The Terrell Leadership Collective™ was inspired by a family legacy of faith, service, education, leadership, and opportunity.
South Side Beginnings
Growing up on the South Side of San Antonio, Coach Quevette Terrell learned firsthand the power of having people who believe in you. Adopted alongside her twin brother by Joyce and T.J. Terrell, she was raised in a home where faith, education, service, and hard work were not just encouraged—they were lived every day.
A Mother's Love for Learning
As a NICU nurse, Joyce Terrell dedicated her life to caring for others and helping children reach their full potential. She believed in the power of education, encouraged curiosity and lifelong learning, and created opportunities for her children to dream bigger than their circumstances.
Her commitment to helping others and her love for learning would later inspire the creation of R.I.T. SQUAD™ (Readers in Training™) and the educational foundation of the Terrell Leadership Collective.
Education as a Door
As the first in the family to pursue higher education, Quevette’s sister helped pave the way and showed what was possible through college. Her example opened doors and created opportunities that changed the family’s trajectory and inspired future generations to dream bigger.
As a young girl, Coach Terrell often visited The University of Texas at Austin with her sister and was inspired by the students, the environment, and the possibilities that college represented. Today, that inspiration has come full circle as she takes students on college visits and campus tours.
A Family of Service
Both of Quevette’s brothers answered the call to serve in the United States military, demonstrating leadership, sacrifice, discipline, and commitment to something greater than themselves.
Their example reinforced the values of responsibility, perseverance, and service that continue to influence the Terrell Leadership Collective today—and inspired the creation of I.O.G. SQUAD™ (Igniting Our Greatness™), built on the belief that every student has greatness within them.
The Classroom as a Calling
As a physical education and health teacher for more than 15 years, Coach Terrell has witnessed firsthand the connection between physical wellness, confidence, leadership, and personal growth.
Those experiences inspired the creation of F.I.T. SQUAD™ (Fitness In Training™), helping students develop healthy habits, overcome challenges, build confidence, and discover the power of perseverance.
Building the Collective
Inspired by these experiences, Coach Terrell created L.I.T. SQUAD B.U.I.L.D.S.™ (Leaders in Training™), the foundation of the Terrell Leadership Collective, to help students develop character, leadership skills, responsibility, and a heart for serving others.
Recognizing the importance of continued support beyond elementary school, she envisioned N.C.I. SQUAD™ (Next Chapter Impact™)—a pathway for middle school, high school, and alumni to keep developing as leaders while exploring college, career, service, and personal growth opportunities.
Carrying the Legacy Forward
Today, the Terrell Leadership Collective continues that legacy through five unique programs, each rooted in the belief that every young person deserves encouragement, opportunity, and someone who believes in their potential.
